Salvation

Salvation: God’s Gift of New Life

More Than I Ever Knew

I realize now that from the very beginning, I didn’t fully grasp what salvation truly meant. Like many, I saw it as the forgiveness of sins and the promise of Heaven—and while that’s true, it’s only the beginning. As born-again believers, if we don’t understand the full weight of what we’ve received through salvation, we’ll struggle to live in the fullness of who we are in Christ. I didn’t know that I had become a completely new woman—made new in spirit, sealed with the Holy Spirit, and empowered to live in victory. Salvation didn’t just cover my past and ensure everlasting life; it gave me authority in the present. I was given power over sin, access to the promises of God, and the right to stand in the authority of Jesus’ name—walking in divine healing, protection, and provision. Now I understand salvation is not just about where I’m going when I die—it’s about how I live while I’m here.

What’s Included in Salvation

Salvation is not just a ticket to Heaven—it’s the beginning of a completely transformed life here and now. What follows is more than just a list; it’s a revelation of what’s been made available to you through Jesus Christ.

Don’t just read the list and rush past it—study it. Look up the Scriptures. Read the whole chapters. Search for supporting verses. Dive into devotionals and listen to sermons that help you grasp these truths. Don’t let this be just head knowledge—it needs to become heart knowledge. These promises are meant to shape your identity, fuel your faith, and guide your daily walk with God. They are what you give thanks to Jesus in prayer, declare over your life, and stand on as you grow into the fullness of who you are in Him.

Through salvation, we receive:

  • Forgiveness of sins

How We Receive Salvation

Salvation is the free gift of God—offered to us through grace and received by faith in Jesus Christ. It is not something we can earn through good deeds or personal righteousness. It is given freely to all who believe, repent, and confess Jesus as Lord and Savior.

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.” – Ephesians 2:8–9

To receive salvation:

  1. Recognize your need – We are all sinners in need of a Savior (Romans 3:23).
  2. Repent – Turn away from sin and toward God (Acts 3:19).
  3. Believe – Trust in Jesus’ death and resurrection as the full payment for your sins (Romans 10:9).
  4. Confess – Proclaim with your mouth that Jesus is Lord.

What Salvation Cost Jesus

Salvation is free to us, but it cost Jesus everything.

He willingly left the glory of Heaven, took on human form, lived a sinless life, and died a brutal death on the cross. He bore our sin, shame, punishment, and separation from God—so we could be forgiven, redeemed, and restored to relationship with the Father.

“But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.” – Isaiah 53:5

Salvation came through the blood of Jesus, shed on the cross. It was the greatest act of love the world has ever seen.

What Keeps Us From Receiving All That’s Included in Salvation

Even though salvation is a finished work and freely given, many believers never walk in the fullness of what Jesus paid for. We know we’re saved, but we live powerless, unhealed, unprotected, and feeling distant from God’s provision. Why? Because there are real barriers that keep us from receiving all that salvation includes.

For many, it starts with simply not knowing. We can’t walk in promises we don’t realize are ours. If we never study God’s Word, we won’t discover the truth about who we are, what we’ve received, or how to access it.

Others struggle because they don’t feel worthy. They think their past disqualifies them or that they need to earn the blessings of God. But the truth is, it’s not about what we’ve done—it’s about what Jesus has done. Salvation is ours because of who He is, not who we are. When we forget that, we live under condemnation instead of freedom.

And we can’t ignore the reality that the enemy is actively at work to keep us from receiving what’s been purchased for us. He lies, distracts, deceives, and distorts the truth so we remain unaware, confused, or too busy to seek what’s rightfully ours. The less we know, the easier it is for him to rob us of healing, peace, purpose, protection, and provision.

When we don’t receive and walk in everything Jesus made available to us, we fall short of properly representing, honoring, and glorifying Him. We live as though His sacrifice was only partially effective. Our testimonies become weakened, not because God isn’t powerful, but because we haven’t embraced His power in our lives. The enemy uses that gap to reinforce doubt in others, distort the witness of the Church, and discourage those who are watching us for evidence of God’s goodness. When we settle for less than the fullness of salvation, we not only miss out—we misrepresent what Jesus died to give us.

That’s why we must be intentional—digging into the Word, renewing our minds, standing on God’s promises, and walking by faith. The gifts of salvation are already ours—but they become part of our identity and lived experience when we believe them, receive them, and walk them out by faith.

Salvation is the greatest gift we’ll ever receive—but it’s also the beginning of the most important journey we’ll ever take. It’s not just about a future in Heaven; it’s about walking in the fullness of what Jesus purchased for us here and now. Every promise, every provision, every aspect of our new identity is meant to be lived out in partnership with the Holy Spirit. Don’t settle for a partial gospel. Dive deeper. Pursue understanding. Take hold of what’s already yours, and begin living as someone who knows they’ve been rescued, redeemed, empowered, and set apart. Everything changes when you believe it’s true—and live like it.
